What happen to me? What happened to my number one passion? Why don’t I like reading like before? Well, these are the questions that I ask myself nowadays whenever I come across an interesting book. Those days I was a bookworm! I always have something to read in my hands! Story books, novels, cooking book, magazines, comics, catalogs, news paper!!! You name it! I read everything!!! Doraemon series are my favourite!! Until now! Hehe.. Im actually quiet thankful I didn’t turn out a nerd. Truth to be told, I don’t think we have real geeks and nerds in Malaysia. The studious type we have, but not nerds and geeks. Maybe those who rather study in their rooms than going out having fun, yea.. We have alot of them! but geeks and nerds? Naah! But I remember taking few facebook quizzes regarding my personality, and 3 of them actually “confirmed” that I’m a nerd! What the heck???? Seriously!! 3 different quizzes gave me the same answer! Then I actually doubted myself for awhile… Maybe I am a nerd…But I just never realized it.. Haha… But please la... I don’t think I am... Hmmmm. I wonder what happened to me that I don’t like reading anymore. I’m just thinking. I am trying to relate any unpleasant experiences I had with reading… Maybe something traumatizing happened in the past while I was reading that caused me to never like reading again? … Hmm… Maybe a book tried to eat me once? Or, I got sucked into the book and came out alive after being stuck there for few years? Or maybe, a robber hold a gun to my head and shouted, READ!!! Or I’LL KILL YOU!!! I’m just wondering!
Coming back to reading, i have this cousin who looooooveeeeeeees reading! Her name is Yegnese (for publicity reasons) Hehe.. Well, these girl have read half of the novels in University Malaya library ( I think). She brings back all kinda boring books and novels to my house (to read of course). And she tells me about the books she read! I actually find it very interesting! Then I wondered, have I been missing a lot since I don’t read novels that often anymore? Ehemm… more like, I don’t read anymore (ever ever)? So, right after that so called “eye opening” experience, I was actually determined to read a novel! Who knows if that would actually get me back in the right track and I might love reading again!! Then I grabbed one of Yegnese’s book. Something to do with murder. A true story. I don’t remember the title. Something about a man who killed his whole family… hmmm… I seriously can’t remember the title. I read a few pages, flipped here and there, can’t remember how long I was reading that book but eventually, I can’t take it anymore! It was so sick and…….. Gosh! I remember staring at the guy’s picture (the murderer) and i felt so sick! Some of the victim pictures were there too. I said a short prayer in my heart for them and slowly slided into my emo mood. That was it. I stopped reading and never went back. In other words, I blame Yegnese for blowing off the little spark of passion for reading that was in my heart! What was she thinking bringing that kinda book into the house?? Hehe… just kidding :p.
After many many months, I was again determined to get a novel to read. I remember clearly, it was a Sunday. Right after church, I rushed to MPH bookstore and grabbed a novel. I was so determined to read, I thought nothing could stop me! Not even Tom Welling calling me out for a date!! Hehe.. Who am I kidding =P. Well, I looked through the novel… hmmm… sounds boring... Grabbed another one! Hmmm…Lagi boring! Peeked into another?? Hmmmm… I wana sleep!!!!! That’s it….! I went to the Malaysian politic corner and grabbed a book. Then I spent 40 minutes just standing there reading that book! Gosh! Seriously Steph?? Malaysian politics over novels?? I’m so LAMEEEE! Since when I became such a boring person? I don’t know!!! I remember that I always kena peril by Yegnese for reading facts book and encyclopedias.. I love history books! I love kid’s story books! I love science books! I love poetry!! I love interesting facts book!! My dad bought one the other day and I can’t stop reading!!! It’s so awesome! Did you know that karate is originated in India but developed in China? Did you know that Cleopatra is Greek and not Egyptian? Did you know that Leonardo Da Vinci invented the scissor and he can write and draw at the same time using both his hands? To me those are interesting facts! Those are amazing books! I rather spend my time gaining knowledge then just having fun reading! Hmmm.. Eerr.. Just realized something... Maybe I am a nerd. No normal people would make such statement! Gosh… That’s it! I’m a nerd who doesn’t know that she is a nerd! :P When I think further about it, there is nothing wrong with being a nerd what… Hmmm… IM NOT A NERD LAAAA!! END OF STORY!!! FULLSTOP!!!!!!!!!! Don’t try to confuse me STEPH!!!!
